Introducing the Smiths’ family photoshoot at Circle C Ranch.

Stu and I met in 2016 when we worked together at a startup downtown. I was a marketing intern, while Stu served as the creative director. Although our work only slightly overlapped, I admired Stu and his vision to make something good to really good.

A peak of our friendship was when he invited me to join a photo shoot with Chelsea Lane Francis. It was my first time on a brand shoot, and I fell in love. I don’t think Stu knows this, but when he invited a college kid to a photoshoot in 2017, he helped me see that owning a photography business and getting paid clients was a possibility. I’ll never forget his generosity and helping my creative spark ignite.

Quickly, I left that internship, graduated from college, and started working at a B2B marketing agency. We kept in touch over the years, despite us moving on to different companies and different dreams. I photographed his son’s newborn photos when he was 2 weeks old, and continued to photograph the Smiths throughout the years. I’ve babysat for his kids, even! It’s been great to see the family grow up with pandemics, dogs, and dinosaurs! Plus, Ada, Ruby, and Beau are the sweetest kids. Nicole is a rockstar mom.
